Metro Bilbao
The city of Bilbao represents one of the clearest examples of urban transformation. And one of the icons of this success story is, without a doubt, the city's subway, an infrastructure widely used by local people and with the added value of having the signature of the architect Norman Foster in its design.
Dominion has been an active protagonist of this radical city transformation as a technological partner for the Line 2 of Metro Bilbao which, in six months since its opening in 2002, added more than one million new passengers and turned the suburban into the most used public transport system in the Basque Country.
The company was responsible for designing and implementing the entire telecommunications network in Line 2. Currently, it continues to make changes, upgrades or repairs to the network system.
This project was one of the first that Dominion developed after its founding in 1999. Many workers that worked on this project remain part of Dominion today, and keep a pleasant memory of the work done. Because it allowed them to see first-hand the bowels of the city, to learn and advance professionally. And also, for being involved in an iconic project that transformed the city.
